Seems a but far fetched that but great to see him back. Brent Spiner returns as the long haired scientist Dr Okun, who many believed had died after being used by an alien for communication with President Whitmore but is actually in a coma that he has been in for 20 years. Jeff Goldblum is back as David who is now in an expert advisory role and his Dad, Julius is also back with Judd Hirsch making his return also. President James Whitmore, who is haunted by the events of the first invasion and is seemingly an old broken man. What I did love is seeing Bill Pullman reprise his role as former U.S. Perhaps I should watch it again in one of the foreign languages, maybe Spanish, to avoid the distractions, they all support the 5.1 surround experience.Īs usual the extras are well worth a look, and in some instances better than the film.įirstly my 3 star review isn't about the quality of this film on 4K, it looks and sounds amazing! The other half (not SF fans) were playing “Hollywood Cliché Bingo” and hooting with laughter most of the way through the film. It takes the original and winds the effects up to eleven. Half of us are die-hard SF fans and we could ignore the hackneyed script and just enjoy the superb 3D and wonderful imagination of the CGI artists and the excellent 7.1 surround sound. Watching Independence Day Resurrection in 3D was quite an experience in our family, one I don’t know if I enjoyed as an SF fan, or if I should forget it.
